On January 15 — Martin Luther King Jr. Day — thousands of physicians and employees participated in Kaiser Permanente’s Annual Day of Service in support of our communities. For many of us, it’s a day on, not a day off.

Throughout the areas of the country in which we operate, our people helped local nonprofits with a need for people power.

In Los Angeles, volunteers crocheted hats for babies and mothers. In Denver, our people improved a school-based community garden. And in Portland, Oregon, more than 120 people painted walls, sorted clothes and landscaped the grounds of a residential treatment center for youths. But that’s not all …
