WORLD-CLASS
medical research
As a learning organization, we have a long history of conducting research that builds upon and informs how we deliver care within our organization — and influences care in our nation and the world.
Our all-in-one care organization, combined with our large, diverse membership and comprehensive data, gives us the ability to explore how to prevent and manage diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular conditions and diabetes. We support our research with:
- 8 research centers
- 170 researcher scientists
- 1,630 research support staff
Our support for research in 2017 led to 2,540 studies — almost half of which were clinical trials — and produced 1,660 journal publications.
